SIX BELL STRIKING COMPETITION – Saturday 13th September 2008

The Branch 2008 Six bell Striking Competition will be held at Whitchurch-on-Thames (8cwt) on Saturday 13th September 2008 starting at 5.00 pm. The draw and full details will be given out at the Advanced Practice at Shiplake on Thursday 21st August.

The start time may be brought forward to accommodate the number of entries. Please indicate your earliest start time if the band has a late afternoon wedding or other event.

In accordance with the resolution passed at the 2002 AGM, the length of the test piece will be decided once the number of entries is known.

The test piece will be either:

One minute’s rounds, followed by either 120 OR 240 changes of any method of Doubles or Minor or a timed length of Call Changes.

If a method is rung plain courses are acceptable.

Any team intending to ring Call Changes should indicate this at the time of entry. Such a team will ring 1 minute of rounds and then EITHER a timed 8 minutes of Call Changes OR a timed 4 minutes of Call Changes.

The Steward can be asked to remain and time this ringing.

Two bands per tower may be entered but if this makes the numbers too great then ONLY the first nominated band will be entered in the draw. Non-tower based teams may be invited to enter at the discretion of the organisers.

The highest placed tower band will be expected to represent the Branch in the Guild 6 bell final to be held on Saturday the 4th October 2008.
